“The Samoyed, being essentially
a working dog, should present a picture of beauty, alertness
and strength, with agility, dignity and grace…”
The correct pronunciation of the name
of the tribe from which the breed received its name is
SAM-A-YED, with the accent on the last syllable. These
dogs are also affectionately called Sammies. Samoyeds
were brought out of Siberia to pull sleds on Artic and
Antarctic expeditions. No toy or miniature varieties of
the Samoyed could perform this type of work. Only one
breed is the powerful, gentle, magnificent Samoyed.
Ch. River City's Ruff Edges
River City takes pride in preserving the heritage
of this hardy breed. Each breeding is planned to produce
soundness in body, mind and temperament. The bloodlines
of River City have been established from Wolf River and

ability to perform sledding, weight pulling, herding, agility,
obedience and renowned AKC conformation competition .Working
ability and attitude can be easily seen in River City Samoyeds,
as well as their beauty and gentle manner.
River City is active in the conformation ring.
Highlights include group placing dogs and bitches that have
been bred at River City, 1995 Best of Opposite Winner of the
National Specialty and many Group One and Best in Show Braces.
I have been a member of the Samoyed Club of
America since 1983. I am also and have been an active member
in the Spirit of St. Louis Samoyed Club and the St. Louis Samoyed
Rescue for ten plus years.
